Who Does Jesus Say I AM? Seven Truths You Should Never Forget
Who does Jesus say I AM?
Pause and consider. What do you believe?
I hope a wellspring of “I AM” statements come to mind. Truths that you call upon every day to remind yourself of your value when the messaging of the world declares “you don’t measure up”.
I’ll be the first to admit, I often buy into the lie that says…
“you are not good at ___ so why try”
“If you did more of ___ you’d be valued”
“you will never change”
It’s no wonder that after I’ve scrolled my social media feed and binged much longer than I should have, I arise from my stupor feeling so far below the curve in my finances, parenting, marriage, and well… life in general.
But Jesus.
He tells me who I AM. He fills me with truths that I should never forget but often do… I’m human. But that’s why it is so important to renew my mind every day in what He says about me and not what the world says. And if you can relate, let’s soak in these truths together.
Who does Jesus Say I AM?
I AM Chosen
He chose [me] in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.
Ephesians 1:4
Jesus knew me before I was born. He knit me together in my mother’s womb and knows every hair on my head. I am not an afterthought. He chose me to be His very own.
I AM a new creation
… in Christ, [I am] a new creation: old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
I am robed in the righteousness of my Saviour. Filled with His Holy Spirit. In Jesus, I have everything I need to live a life of victory. And though I stumble and fall, I am not condemned. His grace is sufficient for me.
I AM enough
…by grace [I] have been saved through faith, and that not of [myself]; it is the gift of God.
Ephesians 2:8
Jesus set His heart upon me. Not my skills, intellect, or upstanding behaviour. Just me. As I am. I could not earn my salvation so instead I was given the ultimate gift of grace. Every day He meets me where I am and promises to complete the good work He began in me.
I AM a beloved daughter
…what great love the Father has lavished on [me], that [I] should be called [a child] of God! And that is what [I am]!
1 John 3:1
I love the word lavish. I envision Jesus pouring out His love extravagantly toward me. Wrapping me up in a sumptuously rich lather of His love. What can beat that? As His child, His daughter, I can know I am loved.
I AM a delight
The LORD [my] God is with [me], the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in [me]; in his love he will no longer rebuke [me], but will rejoice over [me] with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17
It is amazing to know that the Maker of heaven and earth sees me in all my imperfections and still delights in me. He is with me always and rejoices over me.
I AM a masterpiece
[I am] God’s masterpiece. He has created [me] anew in Christ Jesus, so [I] can do the good things he planned for [me] long ago.
Ephesians 2:10
Jesus is the Potter and I am the clay. He is reshaping and molding me into His masterpiece. He is taking all the pieces of my life and crafting it into something beautiful. And get this, He envisioned this before I was born and knows the good things I’ve been created to do.
I AM created for His glory
Bring My sons from afar and My daughters from the ends of the earth, everyone who is called by My name, and whom I have created for My glory, whom I have formed, even whom I have made.
Isaiah 43:6b-7
God spoke these words to the nation of Israel whom He had redeemed. In like manner, He speaks this over me today. I am created and saved for the praise of His glory. His chosen vessel to display the riches of His abounding grace.
So remember and keep on remembering…
There you have it… seven “I AM” truths that both you and I should never forget. Let’s meditate upon them daily to extinguish the shouts of the world that try to crowd out the One voice that matters most.
